New Canon Pixma iP4200 with "ChromaLife100" technology With the Pixma iP4200 Canon introduces a color ink-jet printer which is said to achieve a resolution of up to 9.600 x 2.400 dpi according to the OEM information. The single ink drops have a volume of only one picolitre. The printheads are in accordance with the already established "Fine" Technology (Full photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering). The printhead is capable to carry five ink tanks and has alltogether 1.856 nozzles.

The Pixma iP4200 works with a 5-color ink system with four dyebased inks and a pigment-based black ink. Due to this, sharp image quality for good pictures as well as for testprints shall be reached. The printer shall be able to print a typical color picture in about 51 seconds and is equipped with a PictBridge-compatible USB-2.0 connection. According to information fromCanon, it prints 29 pages in monochrome black mode and up to 20 color printouts per minute.

Due to the double paper tray it is possible to print with Photo paper and normal paper without changing the paper stocks. Duplex printing is also standard.

The new designed inks of the "Canon ChromaLife100" technology shall have a durability of up to 100 years in connection with specialty papers, "if the photos will be kept in a photo album" (this is original Canon wording).
