The regionalized ink cartridges for the new HP Photosmart 8250 - Which cartridge works in which country?

The regionalized ink cartridges for the new HP Photosmart 8250 - Which cartridge works in which country?

In the beginning of 2005 HP presented a "new generation" of ink-jet printers, containing the first series of HP Vivera cartridges such as No. 94 / 338 / 131 / 852. Everything looked still the same as before: integrated print heads of the typical "black" and "3-color" types - everything very similar to No 56 / 57 (the former cartridge generation).

The important change within this new, 2nd generation was that for example the the black cartridge No. 94 will only work in printers sold in North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific (excl. Japan, China and India). OCP informed about this "principle of regionalized HP cartridges" in Customer Information 07-19-05.

With the new Vivera systemof the Photosmart 8250, HP moves some more steps forward:

- This printer contains a permanent print head which can not be replaced

- All consumables are single ink tanks which can be replaced individually

- All consumables contain a chip, providing
a) ink level information
b) zone/region information

Furthermore, all single black and color cartridges of one zone/region have the same, identical "short number". Please check the PDF version of this Newsletter below showing two charts with the correlating zones/regions.
