HP No. 78+ and No. 57+ Cartridges with Vivera inks for more stable printouts HP No. 78+ and No. 57+ Cartridges with Vivera inks for more stable printouts

Since June 6th, 2006 there are new “plus” versions of the HP No. 78 (CB277AN) and No. 57 (CB278AN) cartridges available in the US which enable consumers with elder printer models to use the recent Vivera ink design.

These „new“ cartridges are in terms of electronics and nozzle dimensions identical with the former HP No. 78 and No. 57 cartridges. Also the page yield – as HP says – shall be the same as with the old versions (HP No. 78+ approx. 450, HP No. 57+ approx. 400 pages).

As HP says, the new Vivera inks enable elder printer models to print „Photo-quality color and impressive graphics“. Also, by the use of Vivera inks printouts are said to „last 50 years longer“ than the same printouts made with the former cartridge models without Vivera inks.  The real durability of printouts does of course depend – as always – on the paper.

HP No. 78+ cartridges can be used in all printer models using the previous HP C 6578 cartridge. The HP No. No. 57+ cartridges can be used in all printers which are capable to work with the previous HP C 6657.

Since the introduction of the new cartridges June 2006 in the US, OCP´s R&D department is analysing them. As soon as OCP inks are available for these cartridges, we will inform about this immediately.
